RAJOURI FEBRUARY 26:-In a major step towards strengthening preventive healthcare for women, the Government of India will roll out the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme against cervical cancer on February 28. To sensitise the public about the initiative, an awareness-cum-media interaction programme was organised at Block Manjakote.

Speaking on the occasion, Block Medical Officer Dr. Saleem Bhatti emphasised that cervical cancer continues to pose a serious health threat to women but can be effectively prevented through early vaccination and routine screening. He described the HPV vaccine as a safe and evidence-based intervention that significantly lowers the risk of developing cervical cancer when administered at the recommended age.

Dr. Bhatti noted that the nationwide launch of the HPV vaccine reflects the Government of India’s commitment to prioritising women’s health and expanding access to preventive services. He encouraged parents and guardians to ensure that eligible girls receive the vaccine without delay and stressed the value of regular medical check-ups for early diagnosis and better outcomes.
Highlighting the role of the media, he appealed to journalists to help disseminate accurate information, particularly in rural and remote areas, to counter misinformation and promote awareness about the benefits of vaccination.

Health department officials present at the programme assured that all preparations have been completed across healthcare facilities in Block Manjakote to ensure the smooth conduct of the vaccination drive. They reiterated their resolve to make the campaign successful through coordinated efforts and community participation.

The launch of the HPV vaccination programme is being seen as a vital move towards reducing the incidence of cervical cancer and securing a healthier future for women and girls.
