Minister Javed Rana Participates in Departmental Summit of Ministry of Jal Shakti in New Delhi

NEW DELHI SEPT 02:-Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, participated in the two-day Departmental Summit of the Ministry of Jal Shakti held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The Summit brought together senior officials and stakeholders to deliberate upon key issues concerning the effective implementation of water-sector programmes and strengthening water security across the country.

The discussions focused on the timely execution of water infrastructure projects, rainwater conservation and harvesting, sustainability of water sources, and effective operation and maintenance (O&M) of rural drinking water supply systems.

During the deliberations, Minister Javed Rana shared Jammu & Kashmir’s perspective, priorities and field-level experiences in the water sector.

He emphasised the importance of sustained coordination between the Centre and the Union Territory for expediting the implementation of critical water infrastructure and ensuring that the benefits of various schemes reach the people in a timely and effective manner.

The Minister underscored the need for a comprehensive and sustainable approach to water management, with greater focus on source sustainability, conservation of water resources, climate-resilient infrastructure and strengthening the long-term functionality of rural drinking water systems.

He also highlighted the importance of robust operation and maintenance mechanisms to ensure reliable and uninterrupted water supply services, particularly in rural and remote areas of Jammu & Kashmir.

The Minister reiterated the commitment of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir towards ensuring sustainable water security and dependable drinking water services for every household. He stressed that effective Centre–UT collaboration, sound planning, efficient implementation and sustained monitoring would remain critical to achieving these objectives.

The deliberations at the Summit provided an important platform for sharing experiences, identifying challenges and exploring coordinated strategies for strengthening the water sector and ensuring reliable, sustainable and people-centric water services.
