JAMMU FEBRUARY 17:-In a swift and coordinated inter-state operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested two Pakistani nationals in Punjab hours after they allegedly assaulted police personnel and escaped from a juvenile home.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Sunaullah and Ahsan Anwar, reportedly attacked on-duty police officials at around 5:15 PM before fleeing from lawful custody, triggering a massive manhunt.
Senior officers immediately took cognizance of the incident and launched a large-scale search operation. Multiple teams were deployed, checkpoints were set up, and alerts were sounded across districts and neighbouring states.
Using sustained technical surveillance, intelligence inputs, and close coordination with the Punjab Police, the accused were tracked to Punjab. Acting on specific information, joint teams carried out a coordinated operation and successfully apprehended both individuals without any further incident.
The duo has been taken into secure custody, and legal proceedings under relevant sections of law have been initiated. Investigations are underway to ascertain the full sequence of events, including any possible external assistance in the escape.
A senior police spokesperson said the prompt arrest reflects the department’s zero-tolerance approach towards attacks on law enforcement personnel. “Any attempt to assault police officials or evade the law will be dealt with firmly,” the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, the department has ordered a review of custodial security protocols to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police also acknowledged the cooperation extended by Punjab Police in ensuring the successful operation.
