MENDHAR FEBRUARY 11:-The Taxi Union today expressed deep concern over the hardships faced by transport workers and appealed to the administration to treat them with fairness, dignity, and humanity.
Addressing the media, Taxi Union President Kafeel Khan said that transport workers are poor and hardworking people who should not be treated like criminals. He stated that, like everyone else, they have children, elderly parents, and families to support, and they earn their livelihood with great difficulty. He emphasized that drivers and transport workers work honestly every day and deserve respect and understanding from the authorities.
He said that the union has been continuously raising its voice for the rights of transport workers, yet their problems remain unresolved. He added that they have spoken so much that their throats have become tired, and not a single day passes without them raising their concerns. Whatever he says, he said, is for the benefit of all transport workers.
He further stated that his transporter brothers are standing with him and that, by the grace of God, he was chosen as President of the Haider Taxi Union. He also mentioned that Vice President Shahzad Jatt is fully supporting the union’s efforts to resolve issues peacefully and responsibly.
Vice President Shahzad Jatt said that the union remains united and committed to solving problems through dialogue and cooperation rather than confrontation.
The union leaders acknowledged the important role of the media in highlighting public issues. They said that just as media representatives have their responsibilities, transport workers also have theirs, and their intention has never been to create obstacles or disturb public order.
Regarding transport regulations, President Kafeel Khan said that the union welcomed the recent order issued by the authorities and appreciated the intention behind it. However, he urged that the rules should be implemented properly and in coordination with transport unions so that workers do not suffer unnecessarily.
Through the media, the union once again appealed to the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, , district administration, and to take practical steps to support transport workers. He requested that official vehicles should be parked properly and that transport operations should be allowed to function smoothly without unnecessary interference.
The union pointed out that improper parking and lack of proper facilities often create confusion and difficulties for drivers and passengers alike. These issues sometimes lead to misunderstandings and conflicts, which can be avoided through better planning and cooperation.
President Kafeel Khan said that transport workers are responsible citizens who contribute to society and the local economy. They only seek respect, justice, and the opportunity to earn their livelihood with dignity. He appealed to the authorities not to push them into situations where they are forced to protest.
The Taxi Union reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and working in coordination with the administration. The leaders expressed hope that their genuine concerns would be addressed at the earliest and that meaningful dialogue would be initiated.
They further appealed to the government to hold regular meetings with transport unions and find long-term solutions to issues related to parking, regulation, licensing, and working conditions.
In conclusion, the union urged the administration to recognize the struggles and sacrifices of transport workers and to ensure that their rights are protected. They stated that they are citizens of this land who want to work honestly and live with self-respect, and they hope that the authorities will listen to their voice and take positive steps in the interest of justice and public welfare.
