Health camp held in high school Kalalkass under School Health Program.

RAJOURI, AUGUST 27:– In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Health Block Kandi in Rajouri district has initiated a drive under the ‘School Health Program’ where the students have provided healthcare services in their classrooms.
This weekly series of school camps initiative is undertaken under the directions of the direction of Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Saleem Ur Rahman, and Dr. Hamid Zarger, CMO Rajouri and is implemented under the overall supervision of Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO.
“On every Saturday our special teams are deputed to cover outreach & difficult areas under Anemia Mukt Bharat and School Health Program. Our target is to cover 100% eligible population & provide universal access to high-quality health care services” said BMO.
On August 27 (Saturday) the health team visited Kalalkass after walking several kilometers traversing through difficult terrain and rivulets.
A Health team comprising Dr. Farooq Tantray; Dr. Nazneen; Tanvir, Muzaffar, Asif, Sahil, Ms Nighat, Ms Pooja, Zaman, and ASHA workers organised the camp in the government high school at Kalalkass.
The health team, which has been doing a yeoman job in providing health care services to the students in the classrooms for the last few months, provided counseling to adolescent boys and girls of high school at Kallalkass and distributed iron & calcium tablets.
“Deworming of the students using Albendazole was also done while laboratory services, including Blood Grouping, HB testing, were also available. Awareness regarding HIV-AIDS, use of iodized salt, Mental Health, Anaemia Mukt Bharat etc. was given,” said Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO.
Students were also educated about the proper technique of hand washing and the importance of hygiene. Health experts talked about menstrual hygiene and distributed menstrual napkins.
Students were screened for health issues and were given treatment for their minor ailments on the spot.
Free medicines were provided to the students, including Ayurvedic tonics and immunity boosters. Dental checkups and treatments were given to the students.
Staff, students, and inhabitants of the area appreciated the health department’s initiative for providing health care services to students in the classrooms and at their doorsteps.
