RAJOURI MARCH 13:-Senior PDP leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has expressed serious concern over the delay in providing compensation to flood-affected families in Jammu and Kashmir despite the Government of India approving ₹330.34 crore as additional financial assistance for the Union Territory.
In a statement, Inqlabi said that while the Centre has announced relief funds for states affected by floods, cloudbursts and landslides in 2025, thousands of affected families in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir are still waiting for adequate compensation and rehabilitation support.
He said it is unfortunate that even after the sanctioning of funds, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference-led state government has failed to ensure timely relief for the victims who suffered heavy losses to their homes, crops and livelihoods.
Inqlabi urged the administration to immediately expedite the process of compensation and ensure that the financial assistance reaches the genuine flood-affected families without delay. He stressed that the affected people should not be forced to run from office to office for their rightful relief.
He further said that providing timely compensation and rehabilitation to disaster-hit families is the responsibility of the government, and any negligence in this matter only adds to the suffering of already distressed people.
