Rajouri ,June 25:-Tension gripped the entire Rajouri old town and its adjoining area after an alleged thrashing case of elder brother of Vibodh Gupta, BJP state general secretary and ex- MLC, inside the Rajouri police post.
Mr Vinod Gupta brother of ex MLC Vividh Gupta had gone to city police post along with his relative against whom an application of thrashing was moved by a person on the pretext that his (complainant) was involved in a robbery in the shop of Vinod’s relative.
During questioning Vinod Gupta reportedly raised objection over police action against relative instead against the complainant.
The incident leads to physical clash between the cops (Munshi) and the aggrieved party.
When the news of attack on Vinod Gupta spread like a wild fire in the entire town all shops were closed by shopkeepers and BJP supporters and women came on the roads raising slogan against the J&K police, in-charge police post , SHO and SSP Rajouri.
SSP who along with senior police officers rushed to the spot also faced the people’s protest.
To resolve the issue an emergency meeting taken place between prominent citizens, senior BJP leaders DIG Police, SSP and other senior officers was held and the matter was settled sources said.
It was reportedly decided to register FIR against the cops involved (on the identification of Vinod followed by their suspension.
SSP in order to know about official version said to share the information after completion of the formalities.
