Investigation begins in the alleged killing of 3 missing youth from Rajouri in fake encounter

Rajouri August 10 :– Three youth from Rajouri, including two 12th class students, who had gone to Shopian in Kashmir to earn money as the schools were closed due to Covid-19, reportedly went missing.
They have been identified as Ibrar Ahmed (18) s/o Baga Khan, Imitiaz Ahmed (20) s/o Sabar Hussain both r/o Dhar Sakri and Ibrar s/o Mohd Yousuf r/o Tarkashi.
Mohd Yousuf said that Imtiaz (brother-in-law of his son) had gone to Shopian in the month of June while his son Ibrar and another Ibrar (son of his sister-in-law) left to join him on July 16.
“At about 8 pm on July 17, my son talked to his wife Shareen (22) and informed they have hired a room and is safe. He also enquired about his 18 months old son.No contact was established with them since then” said Yousuf.
After 20 days long wait, as we thought they had been quarantined, we approached the police on August 9 and lodged a missing report at Peeri police post. Today the photos of the trio appeared in the newspaper,he added.
“In the afternoon a reporter from Kashmir contacted me and also sent photographs of three terrorists killed in an encounter on July, 18 in Shopian district. We have recognized the bodies of our beloved” said Yousuf.
Family members have demanded justice and immediate action in this matter.
“Immediately on family member’s complaint a missing report was lodged and the police started an investigation in professional manner” said Chandan Kohli, SSP.
He refused to comment on the killing of the trio reportedly in a fake encounter.
“Such claims (on media reports) by the family members will definitely help us in the speedy investigation in the missing of the youth” added SSP.
“Today we can’t get permission to visit Shopian. Tomorrow we will lodge a protest at Rajouri to seek permission” said Yousuf.
Mohd Nazir Sheikh, Deputy Commissioner refused to comment at this juncture and said: “Will wait for SSP’s report to make any comment. As for as permission is concerned, the administration has to approach Divisional Commissioner for inter-divisional movement as per Covid-19 SOPs”
Meanwhile, Army spokesman in Kashmir, Rajesh Kalia said: “Three terrorists killed during the operation, in Shopian, have not been identified and the bodies were buried based on established protocol. The Army is investigating the matter”
