MENDHAR MARCH 06:-Marking the celebration of International Women’s Day, the Indian Army organized a motivational lecture at Government Degree College (GDC) Mendhar to inspire young women to pursue careers in the Armed Forces. The programme was conducted by the Ramkund Gunners with the aim of spreading awareness about the opportunities available for women in national defence.
The session was led by Major Anjali of the 59 Engineer Regiment, who interacted with students and faculty members and shared her experiences of serving in the Indian Army. She encouraged the students to consider the Armed Forces as a promising and honorable career option.
During her address, Major Anjali highlighted that the Indian Army today offers multiple career avenues for women who possess dedication, discipline, and a strong commitment to serve the nation. She explained various entry schemes including the National Defence Academy (NDA) Examination, Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination, Short Service Commission (SSC), and technical entries for engineering graduates.
The officer also briefed the students about eligibility criteria, age limits, educational qualifications, and the selection procedures involved in joining the Army. She further emphasized the importance of physical fitness, leadership qualities, mental strength, and determination required to become a successful officer.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed the lecture, where students actively participated and sought guidance regarding preparation strategies, recruitment procedures, and the lifestyle of Army officers. Major Anjali responded to the queries and advised the students to remain focused on their studies and maintain good physical fitness to achieve their goals.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and a large number of girl students, many of whom expressed interest in exploring career opportunities in the Armed Forces.
The initiative was part of the Indian Army’s outreach efforts to motivate youth and create awareness about defence services. The programme also served as a fitting tribute to the strength and achievements of women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The session concluded with a message encouraging students to aim high, work with dedication, and contribute to the nation with pride and responsibility.
