Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in jammu kashmir, Panchayat bodies demand compensation for rain victims.

Poonch Aug 28 : “Rain is blessing but not for everyone” Rains are heralded as a blessing from the Almighty and they are considered harbingers of good fortune.
Some people rejoice when drops of rain hit the earth, but there are also those who fall prey to unexpected incidents and tragedies.
The recent two day spell during which Rajouri poonch was pelted by incessant rainfall has wreaked havoc in many areas.
Atleast four people have died due to heavy rainfall which triggered landslides, flash floods, while dozens of livestocks perished in jammu division.
A 35 year old man along with his cattle, was killed after the cattle shed collapsed in the manjakote area of Rajouri district. The deceased was identified as Mohd shokit, a resident of kallar mora Mendhar who was currently residing in gola nari kotli kalaban in Tehsil manjakote of District Rajouri. His body along with his dead cattles was later on retrieved from the debris by locals.
In another incident Javed ahmed a happless handicapped man from ward no. 1 dhargaloon who used to earn livelihood for his children by selling peanuts at Bhimber Gali informed that he lives hand to mouth and after having all things at his home damaged his life has become miserable.
There are many other simliar incidents, where in some people lost their cattle sheds, some got their crops damaged, some lost their livestocks. Heavy rains caused havoc, which has badly affected the lifestyle of general public and damage to govt. As well as private properties and has amplified peoples suffering.
Social Activist Manawer khan and panchayat body of pyt Galhuta kangra urged upon the District Development commissioner poonch and lieutenant Governor JKUT to conduct survey for assessing the losses due to heavy rainfalls by constituting committees at panchayat level headed by various government officials to provide assistance to the victims and immediate compensation should be released on their names.
