DC Rajouri inaugurates five days training programme for ASHA workers on theme of Home based care for Young Child

Rajouri,june17:Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today inaugurated a five day training programme for ASHA workers under the aspirational programme Home based care for young child(HBYC).

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Principal GMC Rajouri Dr. Kuldeep Singh,Chief Medical Officer,Dr.Sunil Sharma,Medical superintendent GMC Rajouri,Dr.Suresh Gupta,District Immunization Officer,Dr.Anees A Nabi,District ASHA coordinator and other staff of CMO and ASHA workers of the district.

District ASHA coordinator Farooq Mir during his welcome address highlighted the important role of the ASHA in providing health care facilities to the pregnant and newborn babies.He informed that there are total 884 ASHA workers are working in the district and providing the required services.He said the training programme is devised in such a way that beside giving the theoretical knowledge the ASHA workers will be imparted with Skill development training as well.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Medical Officer said Home-based Care for Young Child (HBYC) is a crucial component of POSHAN Abhiyaan. Under this, ASHA will visit the homes of children aged between 3 to 15 months and sensitise mothers on energy density and diet of child.He said earlier the ASHA have to do only 7 check ups for 42 days but under this programme she has to visit the house of the newborn until he/she is 15 months old.He also said the main objective of the training programme is to decrease in the infant mortality rate and to raise the nutritional status of the infant.
Principal GMC Rajouri Shri Kuldeep Singh shared his valuable inputs regarding child care programmes and said the success of such programs hinges on have a touch with the target population and proper implementation of the scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri first of all complimented the efforts of ASHA workers in strengthening the health care facilities at gross root level particularly and the successful registration of the beneficiaries for Ayushman Bharat specifically.DC asked the ASHA workers to gain the knowledge on the topic of the respective training and serve the community on sincere manner to eradicate all health problems of the pregnant mother and child.He advised them to take good care of the nutrition of the child and mother.

The DC also asked them to motivate the women for institutional delivery, immunization to the children and disseminate the information about the Government scheme at the gross root level.
