JAMMU, APRIL 22:- Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive inspection of the under-construction Chenab House at Transport Nagar, Narwal, stressing the need for timely completion and strict adherence to quality standards.

During his visit to the Arsaria Chenab House site, the Minister reviewed the pace and quality of ongoing works.

He was accompanied by senior officials from the Jal Shakti and Forest departments, along with officers from the Jammu Development Authority.

The inspection focused on evaluating construction progress and identifying measures to accelerate execution.

The Minister also reviewed the local water supply scenario, highlighting the need to augment infrastructure in view of future demand.

Officials informed him that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth ₹3.22 crore has been prepared for the construction of a tube well to cater to Chenab House and adjoining areas.

The project is aimed at ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply while addressing existing shortages.

Directing prompt action, Javed Ahmed Rana asked the concerned departments to expedite approvals and initiate work on the tube well at the earliest, ensuring quality and timely execution.

Reviewing the Chenab House project, officials briefed the Minister on current progress, timelines, and proposed facilities.

While expressing satisfaction over the pace of work, he made it clear that no further delays would be acceptable, particularly as the project has remained pending for over two decades.

Spread over approximately five kanals, the proposed G+2 structure is being developed as a dedicated accommodation facility for people from the Chenab region, including Doda district, Ramban district, and Kishtwar district, who frequently travel to Jammu for education, healthcare and other essential needs.

The facility is expected to benefit students, patients and their attendants, many of whom currently face difficulties in securing affordable and safe accommodation in the city.

Emphasizing its importance, the Minister said the project would significantly reduce logistical and financial burdens on people from the Chenab Valley.

He further directed executing agencies to maintain strict monitoring, ensure accountability at all levels and provide all necessary amenities to make the facility fully functional and user-friendly.

Once completed, Chenab House is expected to ease hardships faced by residents of the Chenab region and strengthen support infrastructure for people from remote and hilly areas, contributing to more inclusive regional development.
