Rajouri,June 29:– Police on Monday early morning foiled two separate bovine smuggling bids in Doongi Keri area of Rajouri and rescued fifteen animals from the possession of smugglers.
Police said that a team headed by Chatyar police post incharge SI Sukhvir Singh under the supervision of SHO Rajouri Sameer Jillani and Dysp Hqrs Surinder Khadyal was patrolling the Kallar Keri road in the wee hours of Monday morning when a vehicle JK11B 1528 was intercepted at Keri bridge while the saie vehicle was coming from Dhara Sambla side.
” Seven bovines were found loaded in the said vehicle which were rescued and vehicle was seized while smuggler Mohammad Akhter son of Nazeer Hussain resident of Galuti Manjakote was arrested on the spot.
Similarly, another police team from the Chatyar police post was on naka checking duty at Chiti Bakri road when a vehicle coming towards LoC road Basali was signalled to stop but driver of the vehicle parked the vehicle at some distance and escaped from the spot taking advantage of darkness.
Vehicle JK02AN 4127 was taken into possession by police and eight bovines were found loaded in it which were rescued.
Police said that two cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Rajouri police station in both the issues.
