District Administration in collaboration with DLSA organises day-long Legal awareness program. Focus was laid on Women Empowerment and Swachhta Phakwada under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav

RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 13:–As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Intending to educate the women about their rights guaranteed by the constitution and to make them aware regarding other laws, the District Administration Rajouri in collaboration with DLSA Rajouri today organised a day-long awareness program here in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bunglow.
 
Prin. & District Session Judge Madan Lal Bhagat remained the Chief Guest and Secretary DLSA Surinder Thapa presided over the function. Among others, District Sts. & Evaluation Officer, Bilal Rashid Mir, CHO Madan Lal, ADMO, Administrator OSC Nitu Sharma, CDPOs, Lecturers, Supervisors, Anganwadi workers and students from different schools attended the program.
 
District Sts. & Evaluation Officer, Bilal Mir welcomed the Judicial magistrates and  also highlighted the initiatives taken by the District Administration under the able guidance/ supervision of Rajesh Kumar Shavan, District Development Commissioner Rajouri. He also reiterated that, District Administration is working for the holistic development of the District and various Awareness programmes/ Cultural Festivals have been conducted in the District and some more such programmes like Cricket Tournaments/ PRIs Conclave and Tourist festivals stand chalked out for near future. 
 
Secretary DLSA, Sub Judge Surinder Thapa, during the program enlightened the participants about various legal aspects related to the rights of women besides also highlighted various initiatives and activities of DLSA with regard to the rights of children and women folk.
 
He educated the women about their Legal Rights available under different Statutes and also explained the provisions for making women equal partners in the decision-making process especially concerning policymaking.
 
The participants were also educated about several women centric schemes and welfare programs launched by the Government. They were also motivated to avail the benefits of the schemes including those meant for their economic empowerment.
 
Addressing the participants, the District Session Judge said that the main objective of organising such programs is to make the women aware of various legal and social sector initiatives to enable them to avail the benefits of these initiatives.
 
He said, “DLSA is a legal services institution which is engaged in various service activities and has a responsibility to ensure that legal aid is provided to the people especially those who belong to weaker sections of the society.”
 
The District Session Judge also said that various organisations are working towards the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society and DLSA is also playing its role to protect the rights of the weaker sections especially the women and children.
 
He said that there are a huge number of cases pertaining to the juvenile justice act in which DLSA is intervening and have been able to redress their grievances.
 
He also stressed upon the need to plant maximum trees to protect the green gold of the district and urged the women to educate the society about the benefits of trees on the environment.
 
The District Session Judge also informed that such legal awareness camps would continue to be held in near future.
 
Awareness on the fortnight-long program Swachhta Pakhwada which is being observed across the country to ensure mass participation of citizens in Swachhta activities and to truly transform Swachh Bharat Abhiyan into a citizens’ movement.
 
On the occasion, various benefits under the schemes being implemented by the District Administration Rajouri, were also extended to benefices. Power tiller, golden cards, labour cards, E-SHARAM Cards, Ayush medical kits were also distributed among various beneficiaries.
