YSS Poonch Conducts District-Level U-17 Boys Trial-cum-Selection at Sports Stadium Poonch

160 young athletes participate in the Inter-Cluster District-Level U-17 Boys Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

POONCH, JUNE 02:– The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Poonch, successfully organized the Inter-Cluster District-Level Trial-cum-Selection for Under-17 Boys at Sports Stadium Poonch in a highly competitive, disciplined, and enthusiastic atmosphere under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

A total of 160 players from various zones of the district participated in the selection process, which served as the final platform for identifying talented athletes to represent their respective clusters in upcoming district-level competitions.

The participants showcased exceptional sporting talent, discipline, dedication, and enthusiasm throughout the event. Trials and competitions were conducted in various disciplines, including Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Chess, and Badminton, making the programme vibrant and highly spirited.

Mr Rajinder Singh, former sportsperson of Poonch, attended the event as the Chief Guest. He interacted with the players and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Poonch, for promoting sports and encouraging youth participation in constructive and healthy activities.

The programme was organized under the directions and overall supervision of Mr. Mohd Qasim, DYSSO Poonch, who lauded the department’s initiatives in providing a strong platform for rural youth to showcase their talent and sporting abilities.

The second day of activities also witnessed the successful conduct of the Fit India Movement, featuring running events, jumping exercises, physical fitness sessions, and the Fit India Run. A total of 264 participants took part in these activities across different zones of District Poonch.

As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, nearly 2,801 participants engaged in various sports and co-curricular activities conducted at different cluster venues across the district. The initiative reflects the department’s commitment to youth engagement, healthy lifestyles, and the creation of a drug-free society.

The dignitaries emphasized that such programmes play a vital role in developing discipline, confidence, leadership qualities, and team spirit among students. They also appreciated the dedicated efforts of ZPEOs, PEMs, PETs, PELs, and REKs from all participating zones.

Officials from the District Youth Services & Sports Office, Poonch, attended the programme as observers to ensure a fair and transparent selection process, while field staff from all participating zones remained actively involved in the smooth conduct of the event.

The overall programme was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Mohd Qasim, DYSSO Poonch, and Activity Incharge Mr. Vijay Kumar Sharma.

The event concluded successfully with a renewed commitment from the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Poonch, to strengthen sports culture and identify emerging sporting talent from every corner of the district.
