Youth Services & Sports Poonch Organises Pledge Ceremony Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

POONCH AUGUST 18:-The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Poonch, organised a solemn Pledge Ceremony under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, reaffirming its unwavering commitment towards building a healthy, responsible, empowered and drug-free society.

The programme was organised under the supervision of District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Poonch, Mr. Mohd. Qasim, and Activity Incharge, Mr. Vijay Kumar Sharma. The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth, students, sports personnel, Physical Education staff and departmental field functionaries from different schools and institutions across District Poonch.

A major highlight of the programme was the participation of nearly 2,370 students and youth from different schools of District Poonch, who collectively took the pledge to stay away from drugs and substance abuse and to contribute actively towards creating awareness against the menace of drug addiction.

During the ceremony, participants solemnly pledged to remain away from drugs and all forms of substance abuse. They also resolved to spread awareness among their friends, families and communities about the harmful physical, psychological, social and educational consequences of drug addiction.

The initiative highlighted the vital role of sports, physical activities and disciplined lifestyles in preventing substance abuse among young people. Regular participation in sports enables youth to channelise their energy in a positive direction while developing confidence, discipline, leadership qualities, teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility.

“CHOOSE SPORTS, NOT DRUGS”

Reiterating this powerful message, the Department encouraged young people to choose fitness, sportsmanship, education, discipline and constructive activities over drugs and other harmful substances. Sports provide a positive platform for young minds to develop determination, self-confidence, team spirit and a healthy outlook towards life.

The department emphasised that the fight against drug abuse requires the collective participation of students, parents, teachers, sports personnel, educational institutions, community members and all concerned stakeholders. Awareness at the grassroots level, coupled with meaningful opportunities for youth through sports and physical activities, can play a significant role in building a healthier, safer and stronger society.

The participation of approximately 2,370 students and youth in the pledge ceremony reflected the strong commitment of educational institutions and the young generation of Poonch towards the vision of a drug-free society. The participants pledged to become responsible ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and to motivate their peers to adopt healthy lifestyles and remain engaged in sports and other positive activities.

The ceremony concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen the campaign against drug abuse and contribute towards the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat. The Department of Youth Services & Sports, Poonch, reaffirmed its commitment to continuously engage youth through sports, fitness programmes, awareness campaigns and meaningful activities aimed at nurturing a healthy, disciplined, responsible and drug-free generation.
