BJP trying to destroy cultural identity of J&K: Ashok Sharma

Wajaid Chowdhary

Rajouri//, November 07 :–The Central government is trying to destroy the cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir by selling the land to outsiders said Avocate Ashok Sharma, Former Legislator, Coordinator AICC Vichar Vibhag in a workers meeting held at Block Doongi, Kalakote Assembly Segment here today.

While addressing Congress workers, Mr. Sharma said that BJP has betrayed the people of Jammu by snatching away their lands and jobs. He said that the ruling dispensation had earlier promised to securing land and jobs for the local youth but taking a u-turn it has now decided to open it for everyone which will reduce the opportunity for the locals. The new land laws are a gift by BJP to J&K, wherein they have shown how miles apart their words and deeds are, as the hundred promises made by BJP after abrogation of 370 have been a hoax, he said.

Mr. Sharma urged upon the Central government to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with job and land security for the locals. J&K has witnessed massive destruction during decade’s long turmoil and rise in unemployment is a major concern. “What we seek are not privileges but basic protective rights that this government had itself promised.” Since 2019, when J&K became a Union Territory, the Centre has enacted not a single law or passed a single order meant to uplift the people of J&K. Even the jobs which were promised were not delivered and the same goes with other promises. We need laws which intend to protect the distinct identity and culture of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, while simultaneously ushering in growth and development, and this government has no intention of thinking in that direction.”

The Former Legislator also demanded special employment package for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir as the corona pandemic has rendered millions jobless and many families are at the verge of starvation. He said that it is the duty of the government to readdress the unemployment issue immediately.

Prominent among those who deliberated included Senior Congress Leader Som Raj Khajuria, Vijay Moji President BCC Doongi, Counselor Darbari Lal,

Advocate Junaid Hussain, Abdul Khaliq, Ex. Sarpanch, Molvi Mushtaq, Nakul Sharma, Sec. JKPYC, SS Khajuria, President AYC kalakote, Prithvi Raj Khokhar, Sarpanch Sushil Sharma, Rafiq Anbrabi, Kewal Kumar, Bal Krishan, Radhesham, Som Raj, etc.
