SRINAGAR, JULY 14:-Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former Jammu & Kashmir Cabinet Minister Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal passed away on Tuesday at Paras Hospital, Srinagar, after a prolonged illness. He had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past several days.

Dr Mustafa Kamal was the younger brother of National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and the paternal uncle of Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. A veteran politician and one of the senior-most leaders of the National Conference, he also served as the party’s Additional General Secretary and remained a prominent voice in Jammu & Kashmir politics for decades.

The news of his demise has triggered an outpouring of grief across the political spectrum, with leaders from various parties expressing condolences and paying tribute to his long public and political service. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also mourned the loss of his uncle, remembering him as a courageous leader who fought his illness with determination.

Dr Mustafa Kamal’s passing marks the end of an important chapter in Jammu & Kashmir’s political history. He is remembered for his decades of public service, unwavering commitment to the National Conference, and his contributions to the political discourse of the region.
