Rajouri,May 05:- In a major action against illegal manufacturing and sale of liquor, Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district destroyed around 700 litres of Lahaan (raw material for liquor) and unearthed two working stills in Nowshera area.
In a press statement, police said that a team headed by Station House Officer Nowshera Fareed Ahmed under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer Nowshera Zakir Shaheen Mirza and Additional SP Nowshera Girdhari Lal Sharma was on routine patrolling in Dandesar Bala area of Nowshera police post when suspicious movement of some person was observed near a house.
Team of police zeroed in over the house owned by Mulkh Raj son of Lal Chand and found a working still being used for manufacturing of desi liquor.
Taking note of it, police unearthed the still whereas eight litres of manufactured liquor was seized from the spot while around 500 litres of Lahaan was destroyed.
Accused Mulkh Raj have been arrested while his son is absconding with both have been booked in a case under relevant sections of law in Nowshera police station.
Similarly, team of police headed by Station House Officer Nowshera Fareed Ahmed was on routine patrolling in Bhajnowa village of Nowshera on Tuesday noon when two person were found sitting near a water channel under suspicious circumstances.
During search in the area, a working still was unearthed which was being used by the duo for manufacturing of desi liquor.
Both the accused namely Joginder Lal and Deputy Lal, sons of Nand Lal, resident of Bhajnowa Nowshera were arrested from the spot whereas around 200 litres of Lahaan was destroyed on the spot and a case under relevant sections of law have been registered in Nowshera police station.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Chandan Kohli said that police is making best possible efforts to tighten noose against people involved in illegal manufacturing and sale of liquor.
He appealed people to share details of person involved in this evil so that action can be taken against them.
