Rajouri,June 03:-Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district foiled a bid to smuggle poppy straw and arrested three persons along with the said narcotic substance in Thanamandi area of the district.
A team of police headed by station house officer Thanamandi Javed Malik along with jawans from special operation group were on routine vehicle checking duty when a Tavera Vehicle with registration number JK04B 6109 coming from Srinagar towards Rajouri was stopped at naka point and put to thorough physical frisking.
During frisking, 1.5 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from the pocession of three persons boarding in the vehicle who include Rangeet Singh son of Mulkeet Singhb resident of Sangherha Burnama Punjab, Mohammad Altaf son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Chirar-e-Sharif Budgam and Mohammad Farooq son of Abdul Rashied resident of Badakanna Thanamandi.
All the three persons were arrested and the vehicle seized on spot.
A case FIR No. 95/2019 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Thanamandi and investigation of the case is going on.
An other development made by Rajouri where Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday took into preventive custody six persons for their involvement in unlawful activities including peddling of narcotics. These six persons include four from Thanamandi and two from Rajouri.
In Thanamandi, four persons found involved in unlawful activities include Shahzad Ahmed son of Mohammad Aslam resident of Darhal,
Touseef Ahmed son of Mohammad Zaman resident of Dodasan Bala, Mohammad Tahir son of Abdul Slaam resident of Behrote and Shabaz Ahmed son of Mohanmad Aslam resident of Darhal.
All have been booked under sections 107/110/151 CrPC and lodged in district jail Rajouri on the detention orders of executive magistrate first class Thanamandi.
A Tata Sumo JK11A-8886 and without registration number and a Tiago Car have also been seized from their possession.
Meanwhile two persons from Rajouri police station area have been taken into preventive custody for their involvement in unlawful activities.
They include Mohammad Rafiq son of Kala Khan resident of Kheora and Mushtaq Ali son of Mohammad Rafiq resident of Kheora.
Duo have been detained as a preventive measure under sections 107/151 CrPC and were produced before Executive magistrate Ist class Rajouri.
