MENDHAR, MAY 25:– In an effort to strengthen consumer protection and ensure strict compliance with government regulations, the Tehsil Administration Mendhar on Sunday carried out a large-scale market inspection drive across various commercial establishments in Mendhar town, taking action against several violators and imposing fines amounting to ₹11,200.

The inspection drive was conducted under the supervision of the Tehsildar Mendhar with active participation from officials of the Tehsil Supply Office (TSO), Veterinary Department, and other concerned departments. The operation aimed at monitoring market activities, checking unfair trade practices, and ensuring the availability of quality goods to consumers at approved rates.

During the drive, the joint team inspected grocery shops, meat outlets, food establishments, retail stores, and other commercial units operating in the market. Officials examined hygiene standards, storage facilities, stock registers, display of rate lists, expiry dates of consumable items, and compliance with licensing and regulatory norms.

Authorities directed shopkeepers and traders to maintain transparency in business practices and strictly follow government guidelines. Traders were instructed to prominently display updated rate lists and avoid overcharging customers or selling expired and substandard products.
Special focus was also laid on sanitation and cleanliness, particularly in food-related establishments. Veterinary Department officials inspected meat and food outlets to ensure proper hygiene and adherence to food safety standards.

During the checking process, officials detected several irregularities and violations in some establishments. Acting firmly against the defaulters, the administration imposed penalties totalling ₹11,200 for non-compliance with prescribed rules and regulations.
Officials stated that such inspection drives are necessary to maintain market discipline and safeguard the interests of the general public. They warned that strict action would continue against anyone found violating government norms or indulging in practices harmful to consumers.

The administration further emphasized that regular market inspections will continue across different areas of the Tehsil to ensure accountability, fair pricing, and quality standards in the marketplace.

Meanwhile, the public has been urged to report incidents of overpricing, black marketing, hoarding, or sale of expired goods so that timely action can be taken against violators.
