BUNJWAH SEPT, 25:-A rich tribute was paid to Shaurya Chakra awardee SWR Varinder Kumar on his Shaheed Divas as the newly constructed Main Gate of SWR Varinder Kumar Shaurya Chakra Government Higher Secondary School, Binoon, was dedicated in his memory on Friday.
The ceremony was attended by Colonel Kishan Deep Thakur, Commanding Officer, 26 Rashtriya Rifles; Naib Tehsildar Bunjwah Naseer Ahmad; Major, 26 RR Alpha Company Patnazi; the proud parents of SWR Varinder Kumar; teaching and non-teaching staff; students; prominent citizens and other distinguished guests. The proud mother of the Shaheed formally inaugurated the Main Gate in presence of the distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering and interacting with students, Col Kishan Deep Thakur paid rich tribute to SWR Varinder Kumar, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists in Rajouri in 2007.

The CO 26 RR urged the students to learn from the life of the Shaheed and uphold the values of patriotism, courage, discipline and dedication. He said that remembering the sacrifices of the nation’s brave soldiers is also a responsibility to carry forward their ideals.
The initiative of constructing and dedicating the Main Gate was widely appreciated by the school community and local residents, who expressed gratitude to 26 Rashtriya Rifles and Col Kishan Deep Thakur for honouring the martyr at his native place and educational institution.

Speaking on the occasion, the family thanked the Army, school authorities, staff, students and all distinguished guests for preserving the memory of their son and for ensuring that his sacrifice remains a source of inspiration for generations to come.

The ceremony concluded with a solemn tribute to SWR Varinder Kumar, Shaurya Chakra, whose supreme sacrifice continues to remain a source of immense pride for Bunjwah and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
