Sports-Driven Celebrations Mark World Health Day in Poonch

POONCH APRIL 07:-The Youth Services and Sports Department, Poonch, organized a grand district-wide celebration of World Health Day, bringing together all zones of the district through a vibrant, sports-centric initiative aimed at promoting health and well-being.

Adopting a progressive approach this year, the department leveraged the power of sports to spread awareness about healthy living. A variety of activities, including sports competitions, athletic runs, structured fitness drills, and awareness-based physical training sessions, were conducted across all zones of the district.

The initiative highlighted the importance of regular physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Students, staff, and members of the general public actively participated, gaining valuable insights into how sports contribute not only to physical fitness but also to mental and emotional well-being.

The primary objective of the programme was to convey a strong message — that a healthy life begins with an active lifestyle. By celebrating the occasion through sports, the department sought to inspire people of all age groups to adopt fitness as a daily habit and recognize health as the foundation of a successful life.

The programme was conducted under the direction of Director General, Youth Services and Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta. It was executed under the supervision of DYSSO Poonch, Mohammad Qasim, with support from Activity Incharge Vijay Kumar and coordinated efforts from Zonal Physical Education Officers and field staff.

A total of 6,086 participants took part in the activities across the district, including 3,135 boys and 2,951 girls, reflecting widespread enthusiasm and community involvement.

The celebrations created an atmosphere of energy, awareness, and unity across Poonch, with participants not only engaging in sports but also learning about the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind.

Through this impactful initiative, the Youth Services and Sports Department, Poonch, reinforced the message that “Health is Wealth” and emphasized that embracing sports and fitness is key to building a healthier and more vibrant society.
