SRINAGAR, MARCH 01:The Shah-re-Khaas Traders and Chambers (SKT&C) has strongly condemned the reported assassination of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expressing profound grief and solidarity with those mourning the loss.
In an official statement issued today, the traders’ body extended its deepest condolences and offered prayers, calling the development a moment of “global mourning and significant uncertainty.”
The organization said the community stands guided by Islamic principles of peace, resilience, and the pursuit of prosperity even during times of adversity.
The SKT&C made an urgent appeal to the residents of Kashmir, particularly those in the historic Shah-re-Khaas (Downtown) area of Srinagar, urging them to maintain calm and express their sentiments peacefully and within the bounds of law.
“We strictly appeal to all citizens to refrain from any acts of vandalism or damage to public and private property. Our Shah-re-Khaas area is not only a commercial hub but the heart of our collective history and livelihood.
Destroying our own infrastructure serves no cause and only harms our local community,” the statement read.
The traders’ body also requested both residents and police authorities to exercise maximum restraint to avoid any unnecessary escalation or confrontation.
Emphasizing the importance of community harmony, the SKT&C said that while people may stand in solidarity with those grieving, it is essential to ensure that local streets remain safe and secure. “We cannot allow external tragedies to lead to internal destruction. Let our prayers be our strength, and let our conduct reflect the peace we wish to see in the world,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to the safety of traders and the stability of markets, the Shah-re-Khaas Traders and Chambers called upon community elders and influencers to guide the youth responsibly during this sensitive period.
