Samajik Chetna Kendras to be strengthened to facilitate the Neo Literates-Alok Kumar

RAJOURI AUGUST 23:–Under the ambit of School Education Department (SED), first ULLAS Mela was organised in UT Of J&K on Friday (August 23) by the Directorate of Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakaram, J& K in Srinagar which was chaired by Principal Secretary School Education Department, Alok Kumar.
ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, also known as the New India Literacy Programme (NILP), is a centrally sponsored initiative that aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It aims to empower adults aged 15 and above from all backgrounds who missed formal schooling, helping them integrate into society and contribute to the nation ‘s growth.
The event was attended by Director School Education Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain Mir; Project Director Samagra Shiksha (SS), Rakesh Magotra; Addl. Secy. ,Ghulam Nabi Bhat; Joint Director(JD) Handicraft, Pervaiz Sajjad; JD Agriculture, Abdul Hamid; JD SCERT, Roshan Lal; JD Education, Abdul Hamid Fani; Under Secretary, Pardip B.Hedaoo from DoSEL, MoE; Dy Director Planning, Bilal Rashid; CAOs Rameez Khan, Masood Wani, Mohd Zahid; Dy Secretaries SED; all CEO; State & Assistant coordinators from Samagra Shiksha.
The event commenced with inspection of stalls exhibiting the work done by 20 districts of UT of J&K under ULLAS initiative, followed by lighting of Lamp by dignitaries.
Project Director SS, Rakesh Magotra presented the welcome address while Nodal officer ULLAS, Dr Imran Bukhari provided introduction/details about the program.

The vision of the ULLAS Scheme is to make Bharat – Jan Jan Saakshar’ and is based on the spirit of ‘Kartvya Bodh’ and is being implemented through volunteerism across the UT, he maintained.
He appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders who have identified more than 6 lakh non-literates through door-to-door visits & more than 3.10 lakh people stand covered under ULLAS initiative in the first phase.
