Residents of Rajouri Town Face Acute Water Crisis, Demand Reshuffling of Local PHE Staff

RAJOURI, JUNE 07:- Residents of Wards 7 and 8 in Rajouri town have expressed strong resentment over the alleged irregular and inadequate water supply in their localities, claiming that they are being forced to struggle for drinking water due to poor distribution management.

According to local residents, there is no fixed timing for water supply and many households remain without water for prolonged periods. The affected residents alleged that despite repeated requests, the issue has not been resolved, causing immense hardship, particularly during the ongoing summer season.

Residents further claimed that a large quantity of water is being wasted every night in the Old Town market area, stretching from the Old Bus Stand to Main Chowk, while people in Wards 7 and 8 continue to wait for even a single drop of water. They alleged that leakage and mismanagement in the distribution network are contributing to the crisis.

Demanding immediate corrective measures, locals have called for the reshuffling of the concerned linemen and field staff posted in the affected areas. They urged the Executive Engineer of the Jal Shakti Department to take serious note of the alleged irregularities in water distribution and conduct a thorough review of the functioning of field staff in Old Town Rajouri.

The residents have also appealed to the Minister for Jal Jeevan Mission, Jammu and Kashmir, to intervene in the matter and direct the concerned engineers and officials to ensure regular, fair and uninterrupted water supply to all wards of Rajouri town.
The affected families expressed hope that the authorities will address their grievances at the earliest and take concrete steps to improve the water supply system in the town.
