JAMMU, MAY 13:-Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday discussed key public welfare issues, border area development and measures to strengthen administrative and institutional mechanisms.

The Minister stressed the need for better inter-departmental coordination to ensure effective implementation of development initiatives, especially in remote and border areas.

He also reviewed the status of relief and rehabilitation measures for landless families and people affected by landslides and floods.

Emphasising the importance of sustainable rehabilitation policies, Rana called for timely assistance and long-term support systems for affected households.

The meeting also discussed the inclusion of border villages in Sub-Division Mendhar and other villages along the Line of Control (LoC) under the Vibrant Villages Programme-II to improve infrastructure and overall development in these strategically important areas.

Rana said inclusion under the programme would help accelerate socio-economic growth and improve the living standards of residents living in border regions.

The issue of creating a separate Mechanical Division and a distinct administrative division or Additional Commissionerate for Mendhar was also discussed to enhance governance, improve service delivery and ensure better execution of developmental works.
