Rajouri Police Chargesheet Four in Jagalanoo Bridge IED Blast Case Three accused arrested; Pakistan/PoJK-based LeT handler named as absconder

RAJOURI, SEPT,24:-Rajouri Police has filed a chargesheet against four accused in the Jagalanoo Bridge IED blast case, concerning the April 19, 2022, explosion beneath the bridge in Kandi that injured two non-local labourers.

The chargesheet, filed in FIR No. 33/2022 of Police Station Kandi, names arrested accused Talib Hussain Shah, Mohd Sadiq and Mohd Shabir, all residents of Draj in Tehsil Kotranka, Rajouri. It also names Mohd Qasim alias Salman alias Suleman, declared an absconder and stated by police to be operating from Pakistan/PoJK.

According to Rajouri Police, the accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the UAPA, IPC and Explosive Substances Act.

Investigation details

Police said the investigation uncovered an alleged terror network involving Qasim, whom they identified as a Pakistan/PoJK-based handler, an active member of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and a designated terrorist.

Investigators alleged that Qasim maintained contact with Talib Hussain Shah through encrypted communication applications. The accused were also allegedly involved in receiving drone-dropped consignments of arms, ammunition, explosives and cash in the Lamberi forest area.

Alleged movement of material

The material was allegedly moved to hideouts in Draj, from where the accused allegedly planned and carried out the IED blast beneath Jagalanoo Bridge.

Rajouri Police said the chargesheet marks a significant step in the investigation and reiterated its resolve to identify, disrupt and dismantle networks linked to terrorism and prevent further attacks in the district. (GNS ONLINE)
