PROTEST AGAINST ILLEGAL MINING IN POONCH

Poonch June 14:–Today a peaceful protest held in front of office of the Deputy Commissioner Poonch against the illegal mining being carried out unchecked in Poonch rivers. The members of the Civil Society, Advocates, BDC Chairpersons and others lambasted the District Administration for not showing their concern towards the serious issue. JCB and poclain extract the mining materials from the river and leave behind the deep tranches which has caused dozens of deaths in Poonch area. Most of the JCB are extracting the material without any allotment or licence and it is causing a huge loss to public exchequer. The protestors gave an ultimatum of ten days to the Administration to check and curb the illegal mining otherwise series of protests shall be carried out at different places throughout the District. Those who were present at the time of protest includes Iftkhar Bazmi, Ajit Verma ,Bhanu Pratap,Aftab Ganai, Saleem Sheikh, Navjot Sharma(Advocates) Sanjeev Sharma (President Nava Poonch, Jameel Kohli (BDC Chairman, Poonch) Nazir Gujjar (BDC Nangali), Tanveer Choudhary (JKAP), Kamran Khan(JKPM) amd others.
