Rajouri, January 07:–Inhabitants of the Rajouri district, especially at district HQ (Rajouri town) have been facing snapping of power, drinking water supply for long hours together since the indefinite strike was called off by the employees of the Power Development Department (PDD).
The concerned district officers of both the departments didn’t bother to mitigate the problems being faced by the common man and preferred to sit in their cozy offices.
Immediately after the warning of large scale protest was issued by the inhabitants of Rajouri town, especially by the Islamic Welfare Organisation, and the strong message from the Deputy Commissioner, the Superintending Engineers (SEs)of both the departments on Friday on social media networks assured the people for the early restoration of the power and water supply.
Vikas Kundal, DC on Friday chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to review the power and drinking water supply scenario in the district.
While taking strong note of complaints being received from the public regarding unscheduled power cuts, the DC asked the concerned officer from the PDD to look into the matter and make sure that power is supplied to all the households in the district while strictly adhering to the curtailment schedules.
He also warned of stern action in case of any laxity in this regard.
“Several complaints are also being received concerning unscheduled water supply which adds to the sufferings of the general public in these inclement weather conditions,” said the DDC..
He also asked PDD & Jal Shakti officers to make every effort to ameliorate the hardships people are facing in harsh winters.
Keeping in view the increased power demand of the district, the concerned officer Project Wing JPDCL has been directed to install six transformers of 63 KVA and 100 KVA at different locations to mitigate the shortfall.
The meeting was attended by SE PDD, Sandeep Seth; SE Jal Shakti, JP Singh; EXNs, AEEs of the concerned department.
