POONCH MARCH 19:-In a proactive step to ensure peaceful and secure celebrations of the upcoming Eid and Navratri festivals, District Police Poonch on Thursday organized a pre-festival coordination meeting with prominent religious leaders and civil society members from both Hindu and Muslim communities.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the police and the public to maintain law and order during the festive period. Key issues discussed included crowd management, traffic regulation, and preventive strategies to avert any untoward incidents during religious gatherings.
Religious leaders from both communities highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining peace and harmony. They also stressed the need to guide youth away from drug abuse, antisocial activities, and influences that could disrupt communal unity.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch assured that the district police have made comprehensive security arrangements to tackle any challenges during the festive season. He emphasized that police teams are on high alert, with enhanced surveillance, community policing initiatives, and round-the-clock helplines in place for public assistance and reporting suspicious activities.
The police also appealed to community heads and citizens to promote communal harmony and avoid sharing or posting any content on social media that could disturb peace. A strong message was conveyed urging people to stay away from drugs and unlawful activities.
District Police Poonch sought continued cooperation from the public to ensure that the festivals are celebrated in a spirit of devotion, unity, and tranquility across the district.
