POONCH, JUNE 04:- The Youth Services & Sports Department, Poonch, organized a series of fitness and sports activities across all zones of the district under the Fit India Movement and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and youth.
As part of the Fit India Movement, Yoga sessions and Rope Skipping programmes were conducted in schools and sports centres to encourage physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, and overall well-being. According to officials, around 825 students and youth participated in these fitness-oriented activities.
In parallel, the department organized a variety of sports and awareness programmes under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and motivating young people to adopt sports as a constructive way of life. The initiative witnessed the participation of 2,975 students and youth in different sporting disciplines and awareness campaigns across the district.
The programmes were held under the overall supervision of Mohd Qasim, DYSSO Poonch, while Vijay Kumar Sharma, Activity Incharge, coordinated and monitored the activities. Physical Education Teachers, REKs, field staff, and departmental officials actively contributed to the successful conduct of the events.
Officials said the department remains committed to promoting a culture of fitness, sportsmanship, and a drug-free society through regular sporting activities and awareness campaigns. They added that the overwhelming response from students reflects the growing interest in sports and healthy living among the youth of Poonch.
The department plans to continue organizing similar programmes in the coming weeks to further strengthen the objectives of the Fit India Movement and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and encourage a healthier and more active generation.
