One-Week Entrepreneurship Development Programme Inaugurated at FoA Wadura, SKUAST-K

SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 23:-A one-week Entrepreneurship Development Programme on “Entrepreneurship Development and Management for Farmer Producer Organisations in Agri-Allied Sectors” was inaugurated at the Faculty of Agriculture (FoA), Wadura, organised by the Division of Agriculture Extension & Communication, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir.
The programme is sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India.

The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Shakeel A. Mir, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura, who was warmly welcomed by the organisers.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bilal H. Bhat welcomed the participants, guests, and farmers. He stated that during the training programme, farmers will be imparted skill-oriented training in food processing, honey production, and mushroom cultivation, enabling them to adopt value-added agri-enterprises.

Course Coordinator Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Shah, Assistant Professor, provided an overall view of the training programme and briefed the participants about the objectives and structure of the week-long training.
Farmers from the Rohama Farmer Producer Company, led by its CEO, are actively participating in the programme.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Prof. Shakeel A. Mir, expressed gratitude to the MSME Ministry for providing financial support for such training programmes. He also thanked the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and the Director Planning, SKUAST-K Prof. H. R. Naik for their continuous support. He emphasized that SKUAST-K is handholding farmers through such initiatives and highlighted that agriculture remains the strongest sector for engaging educated youth and ensuring sustainable livelihoods.

The programme proceedings were anchored by PhD Scholar Huzaifa, who also delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the Chief Guest, organisers, resource persons, and participants for making the event a success.

The one-week programme will continue with expert lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and interactive sessions aimed at strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations and promoting agripreneurship in the region.
