One arrested with 1240 grams of poppy straw in Rajouri’s Kandi

Rajouri,Sept 29:-Foiling a bid to smuggle poppy straw, police here in Rajouri have arrested a person recovering 1240 grams of poppy straw.

Police said that on Tuesday, a team of Kandi police station headed by SHO Mustaj Ahmed was on routine naka checking and a tempo vehicle JK11 7057 coming from Kashmir side was stoped and put to general frisking.

While checking the vehicle, a box containing apples was found which contained poppy straw.

The said box was in possession of person namely Mushtaq Ahmed son of Hasham Din resident of Morha Khandi Gali.

1240 grams of poppy straw (Bhuki) like substance was recovered after which accused was arrested whereas vehicle has been seized and it’s driver have also been detained for questioning.

Police said that a case under relevant sections of law have been registered in Kandi police station and further investigation is going on.
