Omar Abdullah Slams BJP as Anti-Muslim, Cites Lack of Representation

RAJOURI SEPT 20:–National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government, labeling it anti-Muslim and highlighting the absence of Muslim ministers despite the community making up 14% of India’s population.

Addressing a public meeting in Kotranka, Rajouri, Abdullah questioned the BJP’s credentials, saying, “The Home Minister who comes seeking Muslim votes should explain why there are no Muslim representatives in the Central government.”

He criticized the BJP for targeting Muslims, citing instances of mosque and madrasa lockdowns, bulldozing Muslim-owned shops in UP, and demanding girls remove their burqas.

Abdullah also countered BJP allegations of National Conference being soft separatists, pointing to the killing of 4,500 party workers, office bearers, MLAs, and MLCs over 35 years.

The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister expressed skepticism about the BJP’s development claims, saying, “What benefit have the people of Kotranka gained? Nothing new has been seen on the ground in the last decade.”

He warned voters against dividing votes, stating, “They fear a united alliance will lead to worse results for them.”

Abdullah expressed confidence in restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and statehood, saying, “Significant changes have taken place in the last ten years… What happened on August 5, 2019, was not God’s will but a conspiracy of Delhi. One day we will get it back.”
