GNS ONLINE Kewal Budhal : A one day awareness programme was organized here today to make potential beneficiaries, especially girls, aware about the rural livelihood schemes like UMEED being implemented under National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
The participants from uncovered areas of the Block Budhal were urged to create Self Help Groups (SHGs) to increase their household income through sustainable livelihood modes and hassle free access to financial assistance.
At Kewal Lower, Panchayat of Budhal block, the Mission Management Unit, Budhal conducted a one day orientation-cum-awareness programme to sensitize the participants, especially women folk about the UMEED and other schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Nodal Officer NRLM, Jawaid Sofi educated the participants about the “Aajeevika” programme launched by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India under NRLM to improve living status of rural populace.
He appealed all participants to avail the benefit from schemes to enhance their household income and self respect.
Block Programme Manager, Budhal Kamran Haneef informed that 156 women Self Help Groups have been formed in the block so far with their own saving and credit linkage of over Rs. 2 crore from various financial institutions.
Sarpanch Kewal Farooq Inqlabi, Rashid Shaheen, HDO Budhal, Health Officer Budhal, Bank Manager JK Bank Budhal were also present on the occasion.
