RAJOURI DEC 03:-Differently able persons of subdivision Nowshera of Rajouri district raised their burning demands while celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities-2024 at Nowshera.
The event was chaired by a prominent social activist of Nowshera and Vice President All J&K Handicapped Welfare Association (JKHWA), Vinod Sharma.
Speaking on this occasion Vinod Sharma said that individuals with disabilities, especially in Nowshera subdivision are facing many problems which need early attention by higher authorities.
On celebrations of International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), Vinod Sharma has forwarded a memorandum of their demands to Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, who is also Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Nowshera constituency.
The burning demands of individuals with disabilities raised in the memorandum include organisation of Artificial Limb Camp at Nowshera for distribution of artificial limbs, callipers, shoes, wheelchairs, tricycles, motorised tricycles, hearing aids etc of standard quality to the needy beneficiaries.
Other demands include enhancement of monthly pension from Rs 1000 pm to Rs 5000 Pm; 4 percent reservation for differently able persons in promotion and transfers, special ration card facility of PHH/ AAY for all disabled persons, one time reservation in all colleges/universities for the children of differently able persons
at par with SC/ ST.
Differently able persons also demanded an Advisory Board for them and inclusion of their members in District Advisory Board, accessibility to all private and government offices, and 4% allotment in government shops and plots vide Govt Order No.232-HOD of 2015, dt. 03-12- 23. and 192-HUD / GR/ 1991 dt. 01-09-1991.
Prominent citizens of Nowshera present in the event include Sr. Paramjeet Singh; ex Sarpanch, Om Parkash, Mohd Aslam, Ashok Kumar, Baldev Singh, Sharifa Begum, Naseem Akhtar, Munir Hussain, Raghubir Singh, Mohd Younas,& Mohd Sadiq.
