No permanent Principal for GMC Rajouri since 2018 when 1st in-charge Principal was posted

RAJOURI JANUARY 02:– Since the commencement osf the classes of the first batch of MBBS in the Government Medical College Rajouri on August 4, 2019, the government has failed to appoint a permanent Principal.
Once again vide the government order No.815-JK(HME) of 2021 dt 31/12/2021, Dr. Ghulam Ali Shah, Prof Department of Anaesthesiology, GMC Rajouri shall temporarily look after the charge of the post of Principal, GMC Rajouri.
Reportedly, Dr.Ghulam Ali Shah will attain superannuation in the month of April.
Pertinently, since the appointment of the first in-charge Principal of GMC on April 7, 2018 (Dr. Zahid H Gillani ), Dr Ghulam Ali is the fourth in-charge Principal of GMC Rajouri in 29 months.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh was the second in-charge Principal (with a one-year extension) from May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2021.
Reliable sources said that most of the senior Professors (doctors) at Jammu preferred to be appointed Principal of GMC, Jammu and no one is willing to join as permanent Principal at GMC Rajouri.
Similar situation was faced when Dr. Kuldeep Singh attained superannuation and the government assigned the charge of the post of Principal, GMC Rajouri to Dr Brij Mohan Professor, Department of Pharmacology, and GMC Jammu with effect from 01-05-2021 despite the fact that he will attain superannuation on December 31, 2021.
Health and Medical Education Department once again faced the same situation after the retirement of Dr.Brij Mohan as no senior Professor (doctor) reportedly extended consent to join as permanent Principal of GMC Rajouri and Dr Ghulam Ali Shah was given the temporary charge of the post of Principal, GMC Rajouri.
Government Medical College, Rajouri has been established vide Government of Jammu and Kashmir Order No. 675-HME of 2017 Dated:- 23.10.2017 with the aim to provide quality education and deliver health care services to the people of Peer Panchal region.
Sources said no faculty member in Rajouri GMC is currently eligible for the post of Principal and ultimately the appointment has to be made from the Government Medical College, Jammu.
Moreover, the post of Medical Superintendent, GMC Rajouri has been given to Dr. Mehmood Hussain, who is also not eligible for the post as he comes under the purview of the Directorate of Health Services and was not appointed through PSC.
The posts of Deputy Medical Superintendent and Assistant Medical Superintendent are also vacant in GMC Rajouri.
