RAJOURI NOV 26:-Iftkhar Ahmed, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), met with the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) on Monday, extending his congratulations and discussing critical developmental issues. The meeting, held on the university campus, was centered on strategies to improve the institution’s academic and infrastructural standing, with a focus on addressing the needs of students and faculty.

In his address, MLA Rajouri emphasized the importance of a transparent and inclusive admissions process, advocating for measures that would strengthen the reservation frameworks to support underrepresented communities. He further called for a structured approach to career advancement for the university’s faculty and staff, underscoring the need for timely promotions to boost morale and foster academic excellence.

The MLA also highlighted the urgent need for improvements to the university’s hostel facilities. “Upgrades in infrastructure, cleanliness, and overall amenities are essential for creating a comfortable living environment for students,” Ahmed stated, stressing that such improvements would contribute to a better quality of life on campus.

In a broader conversation about the future of the institution, MLA Ahmed expressed his continued support for BGSBU’s growth and assured the Vice Chancellor of his commitment to securing government backing for the university’s development initiatives. “Our government is dedicated to supporting this university, and we will work to ensure it receives the necessary resources,” he affirmed.

The MLA also addressed the financial challenges currently faced by the university and suggested exploring the possibility of transforming BGSBU into a tribal university. “Given that a majority of the students here belong to tribal communities, it is crucial to consider a shift toward becoming a Tribal University. This would open the door for funding from the Tribal Ministry, helping the institution become self-sufficient,” he explained.

Furthermore, MLA Ahmed raised concerns regarding the affiliation of local colleges with the University of Jammu, suggesting instead that they be affiliated with BGSBU to streamline administrative processes and provide better opportunities for students in the region.

The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to MLA Iftkhar Ahmed for his unwavering support and assured him of the administration’s commitment to addressing the concerns raised. Both parties shared a vision of strengthening the academic and administrative framework of the university, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of its students and staff.

Concluding the meeting, MLA Ahmed reiterated his commitment to assisting the university in any way possible. “I am here to support this institution in every possible manner, as BGSBU is vital not only for our current generation but for future generations as well,” he remarked.
