Massive Participation Marks DYSS Poonch Inter-School Competitions Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

POONCH MAY 12:-The Department of Youth Services & Sports successfully organized Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions across Surankote, Mendhar, Poonch, Bufliaz and Harni zones under the banner of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, witnessing massive participation from students and strong community involvement.

The large-scale sporting events were aimed at promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness, youth empowerment and awareness against drug abuse. Students enthusiastically participated in various disciplines including Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Chess, Yoga and Athletics.

At Zone Surankote, the fourth day of U-14 Girls competitions was held at GMS Hurmi Dhaki under the supervision of the Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), where around 669 students participated with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit.

Simultaneously, Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions for U-17 Girls were successfully conducted in Zone Poonch, witnessing participation from nearly 164 students. The event highlighted the growing enthusiasm among girl athletes and reflected the department’s efforts towards encouraging female participation in sports.

In Zone Mendhar, around 191 students participated in the U-17 Girls competitions, while Zone Bufliaz hosted U-17 Boys events with nearly 275 participants displaying remarkable sporting talent and discipline.

Meanwhile, Zone Harni recorded one of the highest participations, with nearly 723 players taking part in U-14 and U-17 Boys competitions. The events were efficiently managed by the concerned ZPEOs and field staff.

A major highlight of the programme was a massive awareness rally organized under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which witnessed participation from nearly 4,310 individuals. Participants raised slogans against drug abuse and promoted the message of a healthy, disciplined and drug-free society.

The programme also included awareness activities focusing on moral values, social responsibility, public welfare and the importance of sports in leading a healthy lifestyle. A pledge ceremony was conducted where participants reaffirmed their commitment towards discipline, sportsmanship and building a drug-free society.

The entire programme is being conducted under the guidance of Anuradha Gupta and supervision of Megha Bhogia. At the district level, the events are being coordinated under the leadership of Mohd Qasim, while Vijay Kumar Sharma is overseeing the smooth conduct of all activities.

Officials said the competitions are being organized in a transparent and disciplined manner to identify talented players for higher-level competitions at district, divisional and Union Territory levels.

The successful conduct of these competitions across different zones of Poonch district reflects the continued commitment of the Department of Youth Services & Sports towards promoting sports culture, youth development and social awareness among the younger generation.
