SRINAGAR NOV 26:-In a significant development, senior trade union leader and socio-political activist Mohammad Altaf Dar (M Altaf Dar Rajbagh) met the Grand Mufti of Jammu & Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, in Srinagar today to discuss the alarming surge in social evils across the region.
During the meeting, both leaders expressed deep concern over rising drug abuse, moral decline among youth, domestic violence, and weakening family structures. They emphasized that these challenges pose serious threats to societal stability and must be addressed through collective and coordinated efforts.
Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam highlighted the crucial role of families, teachers, religious leaders, and institutions in nurturing ethical values and guiding youth towards moral discipline. He called for sustained, compassionate, and value-based awareness programmes.
M Altaf Dar stressed that these social issues are not only moral concerns but civic challenges that endanger the future generations. He urged strong collaboration among religious scholars, civil society, educational institutions, and government agencies to effectively curb these threats.
He further advocated community participation, youth counselling, strict action against drug peddlers, and the promotion of positive social values to restore a healthy social environment.
Both leaders agreed to jointly pursue awareness campaigns and community-driven reform initiatives across Jammu & Kashmir.
