“League of Classics” Youth Tournament Begins with Thrilling Cricket & Volleyball Matches at Sports Stadium Poonch

POONCH MARCH 08:-The Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS), District Poonch on Saturday successfully organized the first day of the Youth Engagement Inter-Block District Level Tournament under the flagship initiative “League of Classics” at Sports Stadium Poonch, marking a vibrant start to youth sports activities in the district.

The opening day witnessed exciting cricket matches and energetic volleyball clashes, where young athletes from different blocks of the district showcased impressive talent, determination and sportsmanship. The stadium remained filled with enthusiasm as teams competed with great passion and competitive spirit.
The tournament is being organized under the leadership of Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta (JKAS) and under the supervision of DYSSO Poonch Mohd Qasim, who are actively promoting grassroots sports and youth engagement across the district.
On the occasion, DySP DAR Shashi Kant Raina attended the event as the Chief Guest and formally declared the tournament open. While addressing the participants, he encouraged the young players to pursue sports with dedication, discipline and a spirit of healthy competition.

The day featured several high-intensity cricket and volleyball matches, highlighting the sporting abilities of youth from different blocks of Poonch district. Spectators enjoyed powerful batting performances, disciplined bowling spells, agile fielding and impressive volleyball skills throughout the day.

Participants displayed excellent teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship, reflecting the core objective of the Youth Engagement Programme—channelizing the energy of youth into positive and constructive activities through sports.
Officials of the Youth Services & Sports Department ensured the smooth conduct of the event with proper coordination and strict adherence to tournament rules. The officials also appreciated the players for maintaining discipline, enthusiasm and a healthy competitive spirit.

The “League of Classics” tournament will continue in the coming days with more exciting matches, aiming to strengthen sporting culture and encourage greater youth participation in the district. Officials, technical staff and volunteers were also appreciated for their efforts in successfully organizing the event.
