SRINAGAR, JULY 14:- In a landmark achievement for sports in Jammu & Kashmir, Tauseef Ashraf has become the first athlete from the Union Territory to be selected to represent India at the GAMMA Asian Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from July 28 to August 2, 2026.
Representing Team India, Tauseef will compete against some of Asia’s top Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) athletes, carrying the hopes of the nation as well as Jammu & Kashmir. His selection is being hailed as a historic milestone for the Mixed Martial Arts Sports Association of Jammu & Kashmir (MMA-SAJK) and for the growing MMA community in the region.
Expressing his gratitude, Tauseef Ashraf thanked the Mixed Martial Arts Sports Association of J&K for providing athletes with a professional platform and continuous support.
“This selection is not only a personal achievement but also a proud moment for Jammu & Kashmir. I sincerely thank the Mixed Martial Arts Sports Association of J&K for believing in athletes and creating opportunities to compete at the highest level. I will give my best to represent India with pride and bring glory to the nation,” he said.
Sports enthusiasts and members of the MMA fraternity have congratulated Tauseef on his historic achievement, describing it as a breakthrough moment for Mixed Martial Arts in Jammu & Kashmir.
His selection is expected to inspire aspiring athletes across the Union Territory to pursue excellence in MMA and strive to represent India on the international stage, while also highlighting the rising standard of combat sports talent emerging from Jammu & Kashmir.
