SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 24:-Highlighting a new chapter in Jammu & Kashmir’s aviation growth, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the major expansion of the Civil Enclave at Srinagar International Airport.

Sharing the update on his official Facebook wall, the Lieutenant Governor recalled the announcement made on September 25, 2021, in Srinagar in the presence of the then Union Minister for Civil Aviation, regarding the ambitious expansion plan.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved Rs 1,677 crore for the development of a new 71,500 square metre Civil Enclave at Srinagar Airport. The upgraded facility is designed to handle 2,900 passengers during peak hours and will have an annual capacity of 10 million passengers.

The Lieutenant Governor stated that enhanced air connectivity will pave the way for increased tourist inflow, greater investment opportunities, and expanded employment avenues in the Valley. He emphasized that the new Civil Enclave will not only strengthen infrastructure but also significantly boost the region’s economic prospects, transforming Srinagar from a picturesque destination into a thriving economic hub.

In addition, he noted that the new terminal at Jammu Airport is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Once commissioned, the modern infrastructure in the spiritual city of Jammu will further enhance connectivity and catalyze economic growth in the region.

The developments mark a major stride in J&K’s aviation sector, reinforcing the government’s commitment to infrastructure-led growth and regional development.
