ANANTNAG AUGUST 19: A peaceful protest was held at Jablipora Fruit Mandi under the leadership of PDP leader Iltija Mufti, with apple growers raising demands for crop insurance and improved infrastructure at the fruit market.

The protesters highlighted the challenges faced by apple growers and called for effective measures to protect farmers from financial losses caused by crop damage. They also demanded better infrastructure and facilities at the fruit mandi to support the smooth handling, storage and marketing of their produce.

Iltija Mufti shared a video of the protest on her official X account, highlighting the concerns of apple growers and stressing the need for stronger support mechanisms for the farming community.

The protesters maintained that farmers deserve adequate protection against crop losses and the infrastructure necessary to sustain their livelihoods and strengthen the region’s horticulture sector.
