RAJOURI, AUGUST 20:–‘Following a recent spurt in terror incidents in border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and after recent terror activities, including a fidayeen attack on the Army camp in Darhal, a high-level security conference was held at Ace of Spades Division HQs at Rajouri on Saturday.
The conference was attended by the Additional Director General of Police (Jammu Zone), Mukesh Singh; GOC Ace of Spades Division and GOC Romeo Force.
Others who were present in the meeting were Senior Superintendents of Police, Rajouri and Poonch, Brigade Commanders, representatives of Intelligence Agencies and SP (operations) Shopian in Kashmir.
The conference was held in light of the fast-changing counter-terror scenario in the Rajouri-Poonch region.
The intelligence agencies briefed the senior officers and others present in the conference about the recent activities by the terrorists.
”An action plan was devised to counter the emerging threat, “said an official.
After the conference, Mukesh Singh, ADGO also held separate meetings with police officials and gave instructions to each officer regarding their role and responsibilities in countering the terrorist threat.
ADGP also visited Thanamandi bowl, and SSP, Mohammad Aslam, and SDPO, Thanamandi briefed him on the suspected movement of terrorists.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the recent past presence of a good number of terrorists, especially migrated from South Kashmir and due to possible successful infiltration bids, was witnessed in both districts.
The police have also arrested five terrorists, including Talib Hussain resident of Daraj in Rajouri district & LeT Commander for Rajouri, and recovered arms, ammunition, and explosives from their possession.
After the August 11 fidayeen attack on an Army camp and firing by a group of terrorists on the security forces in Sujan Hills in Budhal (Rajouri) on August 15 and their escape from the CASO, a detailed discussion was held in the conference on the recent trends of terrorist activities.
In the pre-dawn fidayeen attack by the two unidentified terrorists, four soldiers attained martyrdom and both the terrorists were also eliminated.
First time in the Jammu zone, the army recovered steel bullets from the possession of the slain terrorists.
