RAJOURI APRIL 21:– In response to growing public concern over deteriorating healthcare services, Jammu and Kashmir’s Health Minister, Sakina Ittoo, conducted a surprise late-night inspection of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri on Sunday.

The unannounced visit followed a series of complaints from local residents regarding inadequate facilities and poor patient care at the hospital. Citizens had recently met with the Minister, urging immediate intervention.

During the inspection, Minister Ittoo observed alarming conditions inside the hospital. She found multiple patients—sometimes three to four—being forced to share a single bed due to severe space constraints. The hospital was also found lacking in basic medical supplies, and attendants of hospitalized patients voiced their frustration over the unavailability of essential medicines and substandard services.

Addressing the issues, Minister Ittoo acknowledged the pressing need for infrastructural expansion and improved service delivery. She assured the public that the government will take prompt and necessary measures to address the deficiencies.

“The shortage of space and poor facilities are unacceptable. We are committed to ensuring that every patient receives the care and dignity they deserve,” the Minister stated.

The visit has sparked renewed hope among the local population, with expectations that concrete steps will follow to uplift the hospital’s standards and provide quality healthcare to the region.
