GMC Rajouri Under Scanner: Newborn Dies, Mother Critical After Pregnant Woman Allegedly Taken to Private Room

RAJOURI, SEPT 08:– Serious questions have once again been raised over the functioning of Associated Hospital, GMC Rajouri, after a newborn baby died and the mother was reportedly left in critical condition following a delivery allegedly conducted after the pregnant woman was taken from the hospital to a private room.

The matter has now reached the police, with Rajouri Police registering FIR No. 465/2026 at Police Station Rajouri under Sections 106(1)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the case was registered on the basis of a written complaint concerning the circumstances surrounding the stillbirth. The alleged involvement of two individuals, including a lady employee of GMC Rajouri, has surfaced, and an investigation is underway.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Javed Choudhary alleged that the woman was admitted to GMC Rajouri on September 4 and remained there until the evening of September 5. He alleged that the patient’s attendant was allegedly misguided by an ASHA worker and a nurse, who took the pregnant woman to a private room for what was stated to be a normal delivery.

Following the delivery, the newborn baby died, while the mother’s condition reportedly became critical.

The incident has sparked fresh concerns over alleged negligence and the conduct of hospital staff, particularly the reported shifting of a patient from a government hospital to a private room during the course of treatment.

With an FIR already registered, the investigation will now determine the exact sequence of events, the circumstances leading to the newborn’s death, and whether any negligence, misconduct or violation of established medical protocols occurred.

The incident has also intensified calls for a transparent and impartial inquiry into the matter and strict action if any wrongdoing is established.
