GDC Darhal organized symposium on Secularism and the Constitution of India.

RAJOURI NOVEMBER 29:- Department of Political Science, Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal on Monday organised a symposium on the theme ‘Secularism and the Constitution of India’.
Students who participated in the symposium deliberated on the significance of secularism in a country like India.
Shafeeq Malik, Chief Accounts Officer, GMC Rajouri was the guest of honour in the symposium. Malik appreciated the role of the Political Science department for providing a golden opportunity to the students to discuss a very important topic related to the unity and integrity of the country.
While motivating the students to take part in such competitions Malik said: “Such platforms will result in the growth and development of your personality”.
The Principal of the college Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia congratulated the students for their participation in the symposium on such an important topic.
“Constitution of India allows equal respect and recognition for all religions and there is no official religion in India. An individual has the right to practice, propagate and profess any religion” said the Principal.
“Constitution of India is the supreme law of India. Documents lay down the framework that demarcates fundamental political code, structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions and sets out fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens” he added.
Dr. Jawaid Ahmad Mir, HoD, Political Science discussed in detail the Constitution of India.
“The Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, and came into effect on January 26; 1950. It was drafted by the Constituent Assembly, which was elected by the elected members of the provincial assemblies” said Dr.Jawaid.
He threw light on the Father of the Indian Constitution Dr. B R Ambedkar and said: “It is the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world”.
Dr. Imtiaz Hussain Shah, HoD, Urdu said: “Participation by the students in such resulting in better development of their personalities”.
Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, HoD Mathematics said: “Students of the college are learning a lot from such events which is a good sign for the better academic growth of the institution”.
Dr. Riaz HoD Persian conducted the proceedings of the program. Sajjad Ahmed, Sadia Iram, and Simran Naz got 1st, 2nd, & 3rd positions respectively.
Shariq Ali and Mehrun Nisa got consolation prizes. Dr. Mukhtiar, Ms. Mahwish, Dr. Javed Ahmed Mir, and Ms. Farzana were the Jury Members.
Others present on the occasion were Inamul Haq, Mohd Amir Malik, Abdul Qayoom, Jameel Ahmed, Safeer, Avez, and Saddam.
