THANAMANDI, JULY 24:- Former Chairman of the Municipal Committee Thanamandi and State General Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir Congress, Shakeel Ahmad Mir, on Friday visited various flash flood-affected areas and municipal wards of Thanamandi to assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rains and flash floods.
During the visit, Mir interacted with affected families, reviewed the losses suffered by residents, and expressed solidarity with those impacted by the natural calamity. He appealed to the Lieutenant Governor’s administration, the elected Jammu & Kashmir Government, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, and SDM Thanamandi to provide immediate compensation and adequate relief to all affected families while ensuring the early restoration of damaged roads, drains, and other public infrastructure.
Shakeel Ahmad Mir appreciated the prompt response of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, SSP Rajouri, SDM Thanamandi, the District Administration, Police, and Civil Administration for their timely rescue and relief operations. He said their swift action helped prevent a major tragedy and provided much-needed assistance to people affected by the flash floods.
He also urged the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri to utilize the ₹2 crore allocation earmarked this year under the UT CAPEX Budget for land and drain works in the Municipal Committee Thanamandi towards repairing flood-related damage and providing relief to the affected population.
Mir further appealed to the administration to sanction additional funds to ensure the complete restoration of damaged public infrastructure and provide adequate financial assistance to all families who have suffered losses due to the devastating floods.
